Why hello, Jody Beth readers! My name is Rachel, and I blog over at Rachel Sayumi, a blog about adorable & affordable style for the cheap, chic girl. I'm so excited to be guest posting here today!
I have always loved clothes, but I never had a sense of personal style until very recently. I have been blogging for almost three years now, and I can honestly say my sense of style has grown tremendously. In high school and beginning of college, I used to just wear baggy sweats and tees all the time. I would put together random things and call it good. I kind of shudder when I think about it, actually. :P
One of my favorite styles is the boho chic style. I have always had a hard time grasping it because I had a mental block (I don't have long, blond beach waves, I'm not tall and skinny, I don't have hundreds of dollars to drop on Free People clothes, etc). But I've been inspired by Pinterest and other bloggers (such as our own Jody!) to create boho inspired outfits that don't break the bank.
There are a few elements that help boost that boho vibe. Here are some things you should add to your wardrobe.. Boho made easy!
1. Headbands
Headbands really can help 'up' the boho vibe of an outfit. I've seen Jody wear cute ones (that she makes herself!) and it totally creates a more boho vibe.
2. Anything loose & crochet
Throwing this crochet cardigan over a floral dress made it look more boho-esque. I love that it's loose and comfortable! Throwing over a loose cardigan of any sort can help. Same goes with crochet!
3. Vests
Adding another layer onto a simple top can makes your outfit look more interesting! The looser, the better! I love how my shirts below are plain, but the whole outfit looks more fun with the vests!
4. Fringe
Fringe! I fell like fringe is the ultimate 'boho' element. Add it to anything, and you might as well be at Coachella ;) In the photo above, one of my vests has fringe on it. I love how it looks with the plain Jane top. Below, I added a fringe purse to my outfit. It's such a neat texture, and helps pull the outfit together.
5. Maxi
Maxi dresses and maxi skirts are staples in your boho journey! They are loose and carefree! Not to mention comfortable ;) With a maxi skirt, add a flowy top, or wear a fitted top with a vest or jean jacket over it-- you'll love the look and comfort!
Little accessories go a long way in the boho wardrobe! Whether it's a dreamcatcher necklace, feathers in your hair, or turquoise jewelry galore, you'll be looking boho in no time with these fun pieces!
Great tips
